An American Heritage River, The Woonasquatucket

I am Rev. Mother Susan, Queen Mother of Temple of Divine Spirit and owner of Mother Mystic Spiritual Apothecary.  I was conceived as a result of a gang rape during a Christmas party in 1953 and born to a young widow in September, 1954, hours ahead of Hurricane Edna’s direct hit on my birth city of Providence, Rhode Island.  That was the only year in recorded history Rhode Island was directly hit with two hurricanes.  I was given up for adoption shortly after birth and raised in a Breton French/Irish/Scot Folk Catholic family.  So-called magic and the supernatural have been a part of my life as long as I can remember.  In 2006, I was reunited with my birthmother and learned of her psychic abilities and of my Acadian French, Armenian and Mi’kmaq maternal heritage.

I spent many hours of my childhood on the banks of the Woonasquatucket River, falling asleep at night listening to her soft rippling flow.  As an adult, I moved away from the river. While raising my 5 children, I lived in various parts of RI. Today, I am again blessed to make my home on the river, albeit on the other side  in North Providence. Herbs, plants, roots, natural bodies of water and stones have always spoken to me.  To utilize the spirits of these is what I call the Natural Arts.  I enjoy helping people and have been told by many seers I am a natural healer.  I strive to make a positive difference in the lives of others…although like I tell my clients, when you rip off a bandage quick it hurts, but then the healing begins.  Sometimes to heal, you must hurt.  Sometimes what you want isn’t what you need.
